Since 2017, the O. N. V. Literary Prize has been given out yearly by the O. N. V. Cultural Academy in honour of the poet O. N. V. Kurup (1931–2016). It is a national prize for which authors from all over India are taken into consideration for their overall literary accomplishments. But only writers who write in Malayalam have won the prize thus far. The prize includes a statue, a citation, and $30,000 in cash.
